TELEVISED international bowls is coming to York.

New Earswick Indoor Bowls Club is to host England versus Scotland clashes for both men and women next month, with all four days of action being broadcast live on ITV4 and hosted by Richi Persad.

The women's international takes place on Thursday and Friday, October 13 and 14.

The men's international follows a week later on Thursday and Friday, October 20 and 21.

Tickets for the matches are already on sale from the office at New Earswick Indoor Bowls Club and are available by phoning on 01904 750230. They are priced £5 per day.

Simon Appleton, the stadium manager New Earswick IBC, said: "This is an exciting venture for us at the club and for bowls enthusiasts all over Yorkshire."

* KIRKBYMOORSIDE lifted the Ryedale & District Veterans' League crown after winning nine of their ten games in division one.

Malton were a distant second, with Stillington the wooden spoonists - they finished level on points with Easingwold 'A' but had lost more matches.

Swinton won division two while Strensall and Hutton-le-Hole were tied at the top of division three.

* THE Newsome family bowlers from North Duffield - mum Jill and sons David and Joseph - have won the Selby Bowling Association mixed triples tournament for a fifth time.

* JOHN Parsons and Brian Hutton won Wigginton Bowling Club's final tournament of the season, the Les Hanson Autumn Trophy. The pair were presented with a sherry decanter by club captain Colin Ellis.

The Wigginton club's annual dinner and prize presentation evening will be held at New Earswick Indoor Bowling Club on Saturday, October 15, at 7.30pm.

The club's annual general meeting will be held on Monday November 28, at 7.30pm, at Wigginton Recreation Hall.
