CITY of York Athletic Club's Nathan Smith underlined his mountain running prowess with victory in the U17s Home International race at Skiddaw in the Lake District.

Smith completed the 3.2km course, which included 509 metres of ascent, in 20 minutes 44 seconds and also helped England take the team prize in the U17s age group.

City of York's Tyler Hutchinson finished 11th in the U20 event on his England debut. He clocked 36-07 for the 5km course which included 713 metres of ascent.

Meanwhile, Josh Dickinson also enjoyed victory as he ran the fastest U15 boys' leg in the Yorkshire Road Relay Championships at Wakefield.

Dickinson clocked 7-50 to finish just one second ahead of long-term rival Tommy Dawson of Leeds City.

His efforts helped City of York finish second in the team event, with Finnian Hutchinson (sixth) and Thomas Hayes (eighth) completing the line-up after clocking 8-26 and 8-29 respectively.

Martha Carlton-Seal finished second in the U15 girls' race in a time of 9-14.

Georgia Neary came seventh in 9-40 and Holly Moss was 18th in 10-21 to give York third in the team competition.

In the U17 boys' event, City of York's Angus McMillan recorded the second quickest leg with a 7-53 clocking.

His run helped York to second place overall in the team category, with Maurice Carlton-Seal (8-06) and Luca Parker (8-33) completing the line-up.

To round off a successful weekend for the club, York's Charlotte Mason was the second lady home at the relaunched Tadcaster ten-mile road race in a time of 67-53.
