THE Yorkshire Bowling Association is celebrating a double success after securing two titles at the Northern Counties championships in Manchester.
Paul Humphreys from York RI Amateurs won the two wood singles title after beating Cumbria's Ricky Gallagher in the final.
Gallagher, who won the over 55s pairs national title earlier this season, set off well and held a 4-2 lead after five ends but Humphreys grew into the game and, with a run of 8 consecutive winning ends, stretched away to a 15-6 victory to land his first Northern Counties title.
Scott Walton, from Nafferton, lifted the under 25 singles title for Yorkshire with an excellent victory over local favourite Jack Lockhart (Lancashire) in the semifinal and 10-0 victory over Cumbria's Callum Hodgson in the final.
There was also a chance of a third title for Yorkshire BA but Ben Render, Dominic Kelly and Nigel Brignall (Nafferton) fell just short in the triples final against a strong Lancashire side skippered by current England international Chris Gale.
