CITY of York Athletic Club won five gold, five silver and seven bronze medals in the Northern Athletics Track and Field Championships in Middlesbrough.

Alice Linaker led the way with a golden double in the under-17s girls' 80-metre hurdles and 300m hurdles, while sprinter Alfie Bugg had a triple medal success at U13s level - 100m silver, 200m bronze and long jump silver.

Alex Botterill added a Northern title to his summer successes by winning the U17s boys' 800 metres race by around ten metres in one minute 55.50 seconds.

Josh Dickinson won his first title on the track this summer by comfortably seeing off the field in the U15s boys' 3,000m race to win in a personal best time of 9-12.68.

The 3,000m distance also produced two other medals as Angus McMillan took silver in the U17s race and Declan Neary bronze in the U20s category.

Tegan Wilson shone in the field with gold in the U15s discus competition, while there were silver medals for Alex Colton in U15s triple jump and Tom Flatters in the U17s javelin.

Ed Lake sprinted to bronze in the U17s 100m while there were also third-placed finishes in throwing events for Oliver Wright in the boys' U17s javelin, Luke Robinson in the boys' U15s javelin, Abigail Burton in the girls' U17s javelin and Maria Scholfield in the girls' U17s shot put.

Among the club's other competitors were four runners in the 1,500m races with Martha Carlton-Seal (U15s) and Georgia Rothwell both suffering the disappointment of finishing fourth while Thomas Hayes (U15s) and Eleanor Pegram (U15s) continued their fine first season in athletics by placing fifth and eighth in their respective age groups.
