CLIFFE have sealed the division seven title in the IT Sports Mixed Tennis League after finishing with two wins in two nights against Wistow and Sutton upon Derwent.

John Leetham and Jo Earl were unbeaten in the former, while Dave Hall Snr and Jane Pemberton top-scored with 25 games in the latter.

Dunnington are favourites to be runners-up after a big win at Bubwith, Oscar Hubble and Sara Grinell bagging 32 games.

The two teams promoted to division one last year will both be relegated back down.

Rufforth found Fulford’s Govind Baker and Jo Middleton in top form, winning 31 games, while David Lloyd lost to York 2, as Aymeric Janer and Wendy Stirke won all three rubbers 10-2.

Ben Walker and Eleanor Bradshaw's 31 games moved Wigginton third after victory over York 1.

Cliffe ended their division three campaign third, one point off promotion, after Dave Tomlinson and Liz Boville starred in their comfortable win against Fulford.

York are division four champions after pipping Poppleton by four games, despite being unable to beat Neil Johnson and Sue Pauer.

The final match in division five will decide who takes the silverware after leaders Rowntree Park defeated York and second-placed Riccall edged Sutton upon Derwent by six games. Sutton’s defeat leaves them fighting relegation.

Adrian Shakeshaft and Dinah Burke led Wilberfoss to victory over New Earswick. They lie second on games difference behind Tollerton, with both teams waiting for Rufforth to play their final match against Wigginton to discover who will be promoted - a win for Rufforth will see them grab the title.

Tollerton 2 will go up from division eight as they ended Riccall's promotion hopes with victory, Sam Watson and Jackie Mason securing the win in their final rubber.

Tollerton sit top, one point ahead of Bishopthorpe, who could yet nick the title with victory in their outstanding match against New Earswick, who themselves have an outside chance of the second promotion spot.

Rufforth hold the key to the division nine trophy after they closed in on leaders Wilberfoss, Dan Russel and Kate Lewis leading the way with 28 games to beat relegated Dunnington 6, a result which ended Wigginton’s push for second spot.

Poppleton 5 won their final match in division ten against Sutton on Derwent 4 to go level with Appleton Roebuck 4 in second. Appleton's last game against champions David Lloyd 4 will decide the second promotion spot.
