DUNNINGTON and Sutton-on-Derwent are both threatening Tyke Petroleum Men’s Tennis League division two leaders Copmanthorpe and have pushed former pacemen Bubwith down to fourth.

Dunnington lost just one rubber in dismantling hosts Wigginton 2, prodigy Jack Batchelor partnering Greg Ashcroft to an unbeaten 2½-25.

Fulford’s Tom Craddock and Josh Beavers' unbeaten 2½-21 was countered by a solid Sutton-on-Derwent team performance, taking the visitors up to third with a match in hand.

The bottom four faced off in division three.

Bottom team Heworth enjoyed only their second win this year, taking advantage of holiday-strapped Boston Spa. Andy Cuttill and Nick Milner bagged 3-25.

York 2 leapt to third with a good win as hosts Harlow left themselves too much to do in the final round. Jack Lewis and Jamie Winspear had 3-25.

Record-breaking Riccall romped past division six’s Boston Spa 2 in their home inter-divisional match to seal the division seven title. Pat Woodward and Scott Anderson had 3-31.

Riccall have not only surpassed one 1,000 games won this season but also bettered the previous points-scored record of 140 set by Wetherby 2 in 2013, all with one match still to play.

They have comfortably beaten everyone in division seven and the top two in division six. Next year they will join Alne & Tollerton 1 up a level in division five.

Heworth 2 had a huge win in their inter-divisional tie at home to division seven’s Bishopthorpe 2, captain Loch Trimingham and Phil Quinlan notching 3-30.
