WISTOW are the new leaders of Fulford Ladies Invitation Tennis League division three.

Captain Jill Marsden and Sarah Huggins scored 25 games in their 71-37 victory at Tollerton to put them a point clear of the chasing pack.

Only two points separate the top four teams, Rhian Scott and Laura Simpson bagged 27 games in Copmanthorpe’s victory over former leaders Fulford 2 whilst Castlegarth beat Knaresborough to go second. At the other end of the table, Appleton grabbed two precious points by beating Rowntree Park.

Ellie Page and Laura Rhodes starred in Bishopthorpe’s much needed division one victory against Starbeck.

The 72-36 win edges Bishopthorpe towards mid-table safety but leaves the Harrogate club in deep trouble at the foot of the table.

York 2 had a much tighter margin of victory over David Lloyd for whom Sheila Duxbury and Helen Larkin were unbeaten.

The win lifts the Clifton Park team up to third place but leaves DL fighting it out at the bottom along with Poppleton who went down to a good team performance from leaders York 1. Elsewhere Dunnington fought out a 56-52 win at Pocklington.

Castlegarth suffered their first defeat of the season in division two, going down 75-33 to Rufforth for whom Kate Lewis and Christine Edmond scored 28 games.

Fulford 1 remain top after overcoming Boston Spa 69-39. Wigginton have matches in hand so could catch the top two - Yvonne Petruso and Angie Sleighton opening with a 12-0 in their triumph at Cliffe. Dunnington 2 had the biggest win of the weekend, defeating Pocklington 77-31.

Riccall look favourites for the drop in division four, this week conceding to leaders David Lloyd.

Dunnington and Boston Spa both recorded 58-50 victories against Poppleton and New Earswick, respectively.

Heworth remain top of division five after Helen Gray and Monika Haritakis bagged 27 games in their team’s 58-50 victory over Copmanthorpe.

Wiggington 2 returned to winning ways with a 63-45 result at Wilberfoss, as did Bishopthorpe, defeating Cawood 73-35.

Tina Miller and Joy Craig won 27 games in division six leaders David Lloyd’s comprehensive defeat of Poppleton.

Fulford 3 remain in contention after a 67-41 win against Dunnington which included a 22 game haul from Su Watson and Charlotte O’ Shea.

Stamford Bridge continue to find the going tough, going down 69-39 to Sheriff Hutton.

The top two teams met in division seven, leaders Bubwith coming out comfortable winners against Copmanthorpe. David Lloyd 4, meanwhile, beat Rufforth seconds 68-40.
