DIVISION four leaders David Lloyd maintained their good run in the Fulford Ladies Invitation Tennis League.

They overcame Poppleton seconds 63-45 led by a 25 game contribution from Lisa Garland and Liz Taylor.

Second place Bubwith, who have matches in hand, are still pressing at the top though after defeating New Earswick 67-41.

Lucy Collier and Olivia Turner’s 26 game haul helped Sutton over the line in their victory against Boston Spa whilst the bottom two clubs, Riccall and Dunnington, fought out a draw.

Poppleton maintained their division one revival as they notched up their third successive win, defeating David Lloyd 63-45. Dunnington captain Nicola Loten teamed up with Kate Reader to bag 28 games in her team’s win at Starbeck.

Pocklington crept up to third place after defeating Bishopthorpe. Meanwhile, leaders York 1 preserved their 100 per cent record with a straight forward victory over their second team.

The top two teams in division two both recorded victories. Leaders Fulford beat Rufforth 55-53 for the second time this season. Wendy Cook holding her serve in the final game of the match to seal the win. Rachel Hill and Yvonne Mannell claimed 29 games in Castlegarth’s 74-34 triumph against Pocklington, whileDunnington had a comfortable win over Cliffe.

Consistent scores from all three couples, including 28 games from Linda Irving and Sarah Richards, enabled Fulford 2 to return to the top of division three following a resounding win against Appleton.

Ed Hope and Sally Banks racked up 28 games to help Tollerton to a much needed victory against Knaresborough.

Wistow stay in touch with the leaders, defeating Copmanthorpe 69-39. Elsewhere, Rowntree Park beat Castlegarth seconds 62-46.

Heworth are the new leaders of division five after scraping a 55-53 victory for the second week running, this time against Bishopthorpe 2.

Ann Hopwood and Lynn Kent scored 33 games in Cop’s demolition of former table toppers Wigginton, while Wilberfoss just beat bottom club Knaresborough.

Popp 3 climbed to second place in division six, Wendy Battle and Jo Allerton opening with a 12-0 in their team’s 79-29 defeat of struggling Stamford Bridge.

David Lloyd 3 remain in the driving seat however after a 67-41 victory against mid table Sheriff Hutton.

Cop thirds remain second in division seven after a 63-45 win against David Lloyd 4. Rufforth 2 could only field two couples for their match at Wilberfoss, going down 80-28.
