THE Oaks golfer James Walker has received a second England call-up

Walker, who will be representing the Aughton club, now heads for France next month to play for his country in two prestigious strokeplay events.

He will join Will Enefer from Wrekin, Shropshire and Jack Yule, of Norfolk's Middleton Hall, in a three-man team from these shores that will participate in the Chiberta Grand Prix from July 7 to 10 and the Biarritz Cup from July 14 to 17.

Walker first gained selection for his country after finishing sixth in the Lytham Trophy and ninth in the Welsh Strokeplay Championship.

His international debut saw him help England beat France 14-10 last month by finishing one-up in his match.

Elsewhere, Richard Seels, also from the Oaks, has made the national final of England Golf's Gold Medal tournament, which aims to crown 2016's top male handicap player.

He qualified following a regional final at Ilkley Golf Club, along with fellow North Yorkshire hopefuls Clive Swiers (Ripon City), John Goodacre (Harrogate) and Jonny Dunning (Malton & Norton).

All four will now compete for the overall title at Frilford Heath Golf Club in Oxfordshire on Friday, August 12, during England Golf Week.

Each regional finalist had won a club medal during 2015 and the national contest will be decided from a 64-strong field, including qualifiers from three other regions.

Selby Golf Club's Susan Matchett, meanwhile, has qualified for the England Golf Grand Medal national final that will take place at the same venue a day earlier.

That tournament intends to decide the country's leading female medal player with Matchett one of ten qualifiers, who returned the best four scores at their respective clubs during England Golf Medal events in 2015.
