A YORK pupil has bounced to victory in a national trampolining competition.
Toby Mayfield, 12, from St Olave’s School, won the Independent Association of Prep Schools (IAPS) Under-13s National Trampolining Championships by six points – a huge margin in the sport.
He was required to do a set routine as performed by all the competitors and then his own routine which was put together by his coach, Mark Wild.
Mayfield has now won all three possible titles, having previously won the U9s and U11s competitions.
He trains three times a week at the York Artistic Sports Club.
He said: “I love trampolining and practise six to eight hours a week. Getting the chance to represent school at the IAPS was great fun and winning makes it even better. It makes all those hours of practice worth it.”
