CITY of York shot putt ace Scott Lincoln will be part of a 12-strong Great Britain squad competing at the Halle Throws event in Germany this weekend.

Lincoln and coach Paul Wilson will relish the raised level of competition at the throwing-only event as he seeks to reach the qualification distances for European Championship and Olympic contention.

After setting a new personal best of 19.83 metres two weeks ago, Lincoln needs just seven extra centimetres to qualify for the Europeans in Amsterdam, while the Olympics qualification distance for Rio is 20.50.

Lincoln retained his Yorkshire title recently in Barnsley with a winning throw of 18.83 – over four metres ahead of nearest rival Tom Kirk from Sheffield.
