YORK super-heavyweights Stevie Wilson and Sam Cade will slug it out for the Northern Area amateur belt tomorrow night in Acomb.

The eagerly-anticipated contest will head a bill of 18 fights at the Regency Cinema gym of York's former world title contender Henry Wharton.

Wilson will be out to become northern champion in his fourth fight for the host club Henry's Gym.

York Boxing Club's Cade has won six of his ten bouts and Wharton, who fought Nigel Benn and Chris Eubank for world titles in 1994, said: "It will be the first-ever time that York has hosted a super-heavyweight Northern title and we are beginning to see real results since the gym first opened three years ago.

"Our boxers are now competing with elite fighters on a regular basis and I firmly believe some of those in action tomorrow will be the people you will be watching on Sky Sports in a few years' time."

Tickets are selling quickly for the night with a restricted capacity and anybody interested should call 07543 636542 as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

Admission is £15 for adults and £7 for under 16s with the action starting at 7pm.

Anybody who would like to sponsor a bout, which includes paying for the trophy in return for an advert in the programme, are also encouraged to ring the above number.
