THE lovely weather for the Ripon 10 at the weekend didn't make the hilly course any easier – but conditions underfoot and the scenery were perfect for this well organised and friendly race.

Twenty-seven Thirsk and Sowerby Harriers were involved in this latest Club Championship event, with Gary Dunn, getting back into form, finishing sixth, and third M40, in 1.03.31.

Stephan Tomaszewski was 14th, and second M50, in 1.07.17, while Ken Wood was 32nd in 1.10.50.

Other star performers included Charlotte Wilton, who was 67th in 1.15.46, Rob Lickley in 72nd in 1.16.17, and Graham Robinson was 76th, and third M60, in 1.16.38.

Alan Harman did the gentler – though still undulating and testing – scenic two-lap Raby Castle 10k in his second race of the year. On a hot May day, he finished 296th out of 458 and was satisfied with his time of 56.41.

The usual Park Runs took place, and at Fountains Abbey, Linda Bamforth came 209th out of 310 in 29.17 and Paul Adams 212th in 29.25.

There were 110 finishers at Northallerton, and junior member, Archie Whitefield, in his first appearance there came third in 19.19, David Fawkes eighth in PB 20.37, Gillian Crane 79th in PB 31.24, Joanne Richardson 98th in 38.58 and Phillip Craig110th in 34.53.
