HOME team York IBC took two trophies when they hosted the Yorkshire Ladies' Champion of Champions finals.

In the fours, Helen Walker's team, which included Carol Instone, Joan Jackson and Zoe Eagles, trailed Julie Tappin's quartet from Scarborough 6-2 after seven ends.

But they won six successive ends to lead 12-6 and went on to win 19-14.

Instone and Jackson also won the triples final alongside Melanie Brooke, beating Sue Mullholland's Harrogate team 20-11.

The York trio took seven of the opening nine ends in a tight game where singles were scored on all but two of them. Harrogate, 10-2 down, picked up a three but York scored ten shots over the following five ends en route to victory.

Walker lost the over-60s singles final 22-13 to Harrogate's Angela Spillsbury, who pulled away having had a slender 12-11 advantage.

Hornsea made the most of a good start against Doncaster in the pairs as they led 20-9 on their way to a 29-19 victory.

Meanwhile, in the club league play-off finals, Margaret Moss's team took four of the last five ends to win the Mixed Fours League crown 14-10 after a tight game.

They had been level at 9-9 with Eric Hodgson's team.

Hayley Macdonald, Sue Allen and Paul Humphreys won a ding-dong Mixed Triples League play-off final.

They led 14-2 after eight ends before opponents Dot Kennelly, Stuart Smith and Barry Walker picked up a maximum nine followed by a four to take the lead.

However, a three to Macdonald's team put them back in front and they went on to win 20-18.

There was another close game in the Vets Triples where Graham Instone's team scored two twos to draw level with Mal Bulmer's at 13-13 going into the last end.

Bulmer's team picked up a two for themselves to take the title 15-13.

Gordon Walker's team won the Vets Fours League play-off final 17-12.

They had led 9-1 after seven ends but Dennis Haw's side came back well to lead 12-11 with four to play only for Walker's team to win the remainder.

Joan Jackson and Carol Instone beat holders Maureen Walker and Sheila Turpin 22-13 in the Ladies' Langford Pairs Trophy final.

Walker and Turpin dropped a four on their first end but recovered to draw level at 7-7 after seven ends when they picked up a four for themselves.

However, Jackson and Instone then picked up a three and a two to gain breathing space and kept the advantage.

The long-awaited Yetton Trophy finals day takes place at Bristol IBC on Sunday - with York looking to reclaim the trophy they won in 2014.

They play Riverain, of Hertfordshire, in the semi-finals starting at 10am, with the winners meeting either Swale or Bournemouth in the final starting at 3pm.

The York team meet at Thanet Road at 10.30am on Saturday to leave at 11am.
