Bootham got on the board when Paul Mahoney was able to hold off Dan Potter, and then Lionel Barnes fluked the final black to pip Richard Lillie and make it 4-2.

The final frame saw Mick Borg, in impressive form this season, beat Paul Powell.

Bootham 'A' had a good 5-2 win over Heworth 'A' with Jeff Brown and Rob Barron leading the way, both having big winning margins over Steve Burdett and Neil Wood.

Stuart Martel had already won the first frame for Bootham, beating Gary Douglas, and Nick Parker defeated Nick Dyson (21 break) put Bootham 4-0 up.

Heworth pulled two frames back as Kevin Gall (24 break) beat Colin Robinson, then Jordan Worobec got home with a black-ball victory over Tim Fillingham.

Barry Rankin took the last frame for Bootham, beating Mark Hudson.

Heworth 'B' boosted their chances of ending as the top 'B' team by defeating Malton 5-2 to move within two points of Acomb 'B'.

Alan Sherry got Malton off to a good start by beating John McCready but it was one-way traffic thereafter, as Ian Strickland beat Steve Pawson, Colin Richardson saw off Steve Beal, Simon Whiteley defeated Dominic Spiteri, John Sherlock beat Roger Ward, and Joe Bedford beat Dan Pawson.

Malton captain Phil Hart stopped the rot by taking the last frame on the black against Pete Henderson.
