TERRY Temple has won back his PDC tour card and will join fellow North Yorkshire arrows ace Richie Corner on the circuit during 2016.

Whitwell-on-the-Hill's Temple finished sixth in the Qualifying School's Order of Merit after solid displays during four days of tournaments to win one of the 30 places up for grabs.

Corner, of York, had already earned his card, meanwhile, after finishing joint-top of the 2015 PDC Unicorn Challenge Tour with two-time BDO World Championship semi-finalist Jan Dekker.

Tour cards were awarded for the respective semi-finalists during the four competitions in Wigan, while the rest went to the most consistent players over the course of those tournaments.

From a 512-strong field, Temple started with a last-64 showing on day one and then went on to make the final 32 and 16, before also reaching the last 64 to secure a final points tally of 12 that was two clear of the Order of Merit's cut-off point.

On the first day, Temple overcame Ashley Hykin (5-1), Darrell Claydon (5-0) and Diego Portela (5-2) before succumbing to Rawcliffe's Martyn Turner 5-3.

He went on to defeat Jason Tarry (5-0), Rhys Griffin (5-3) and Nick Fulwell (5-2) on the way to a 5-4 loss to Aden Kirk.

Day three saw Temple enjoy victories over Joshua Richardson (5-4), Adam Smith-Neale (5-2), Luke Woodhouse (5-4) and Kevin Thomas (5-0) as he enjoyed his best run of the Q School before being beaten by Simon Preston (5-1).

His day four triumphs against Stuart Harding (5-1) and Brad Williams (5-4) then rendered a 5-3 defeat to Michael Power irrelevant as his tour spot was preserved.

York's Chris Quantock, who finished fourth in the Unicorn Challenge Tour's Order of Merit, came within two wins on the final day of Q School, of joining Temple and Corner on the circuit.

Needing a quarter-final appearance, he brushed aside Ben Simpson (5-1), Andreas Hajimena (5-1), Ian Moss (5-2) and Eddie White (5-4) before being edged out 5-4 in the last 32 by Michael Barnard.

That meant Quantock finished on six points.

On day one, he beat Paul Barham (5-2) before going down 5-3 to Stephen Gow.

The next competition saw him bow out 5-4 to Yordi Meeuwisse in the last 32 after wins against David Adshead (5-3), Michael Beal (5-4) and Paul Boyle (5-0).

Day three, though, witnessed a last 256 loss to Dave Ladley (5-2) following his 5-1 success over Paul Bettney.

After an encouraging first day when he made the last 32 following his triumphs over Temple, Carl Moorhouse (5-3) and David Jamieson (5-3), former PDC stalwart Turner lost his way.

Day two saw him lose to Matt Padgett (5-3).

A 5-2 despatching of David Dodds was then followed by a 5-4 reverse at the hands of Yuki Yamada 24 hours later, whilst his Q School quest ended when he was beaten 5-2 by Zoran Lerchbacher.

York's Paul Cooper lost his matches at the Lancashire venue against Jamie Gemmell (5-3) and Jason Marriott (5-4) during the first two days of action.

He whitewashed Lewis Cracknell on the third only for Lee Moffat to knock him out 5-2.

Temple also came within one win of qualifying for the German Darts Masters, going down 6-2 to former BDO world number one James Wilson after earlier victories over Nathan Derry (6-5) and Ladley (6-2),

At the same event, Quantock conquered Rhys Hayden (6-1) before bowing out to Peter Hudson 6-3.

Turner was defeated by Wayne Jones 5-3 and Corner exited 6-4 at the hands of Ryan Harrington.

In qualifying for the Dutch Masters, there were triumphs for Temple and Turner against Ian Moar (6-0) and Barnard (6-4) respectively.

But Temple went on to to go out to Steve McNally (6-3) and Turner succumbed to Steven Willard (6-4).

Quantock was whitewashed by former World Championship semi-finalist Andy Jenkins and Corner lost 6-4 to Yuji Eguchi.
