UNIVERSITY of York's men's volleyball first team made it six wins out of six and are on the brink of promotion.

They will have the chance to secure promotion next week to Nothern 1B if they beat Newcastle.

Anty Cole scored a hat-trick as the ladies football firsts beat Sheffield Hallam 6-0. Kayleigh Peters also netted twice in the victory.

The men's first lacrosse team hammered MMU 1 21-0 while the ladies also saw off Liverpool 1 15-9 in a tough game.

The university's fencing outfit maintained their winning streak with a 135-100 victory over St Andrews and the basketball girls finally got a win on the board.

They were given the York Sport Union team of the week title and Elspeth Mcleod was named sportsperson of the week for her power lifting feats.
