TWELVE fearsome bouts are on the bill for the latest Night of the Legions martial arts show in York - with local ace Danny Harrison-Little aiming to be the headline act in a European title fight.

Night of the Legions 4 - following on from the success of the previous three such events organised by Dave Phillips, co-founder of the Legions Thai Boxing Gym in Fifth Avenue - will be staged at the York Railway institute in Queen Street, on Saturday, November 21.

The main event sees Harrison-Little, ranked ninth in the UK in his weight division, go up against Dale Hughes for the vacant 67kg ICO (International Combat Organisation) European belt, fighting under 'A' class full Thai boxing rules.

Hughes, from Frank's Gym in Manchester, is ranked sixth in the UK in the 69kg division and recently picked up another Euro title so starts as favourite, but Harrison-Little, from Legions Gym, has suffered only one setback in his last 12 bouts - winning the ICO British belt along the way then the ISKA Commonwealth title last time out when beating Muhammad Zahir.

Phillips said: "Dale recently beating Ste Long and Wotjek Oleksyk on the last Yokkao show and fought Gordon Ross, Sam Jackson and Frederico Remy to name a few.

"This is going to be a great fight."

Legions' Liam Brough is also high up the bill fighting under full Thai rules, as he takes on another Manchester ace, Chris Whittle, who is ranked fifth in the UK.

Whittle replaces Patrick Simpson, the English ICO super-lightweight (62.5kg) champion, who was initially down to fight but has had to pull out due to a shoulder injury.

Legions' Jordan Carr will also be going for an ICO area title in K1 kickboxing in the 70kg weight division, up against Craig Davies, also from Frank's Gym.

There are nine other Legions' fighters competing on the bill in various combat forms - Mike Moss ('C' class Thai boxing, 63kg), Phil Wetten (K1, 67kg), JD Lee, who also fights for Team Atkin (boxing, 80kg), Chris Young (K1, 85kg), Tom Simpson (K1, 79kg), Reece Bell ('C' class, 79.5kg), Dean McQuade (boxing, 80kg), Liam Ryan ('C' class, 56kg) and, third-top on the bill, Gavin Tuohey (K1, 65kg).

They will be taking on opponents from Bournemouth, Manchester, Birmingham, Scotland and Ireland.

Doors open at 5pm, with the first fight at 6pm.

Tickets are available from any of the fighters and, if not sold out, there will be a limited number available on the door.

The event will raise money for the special care baby unit at York Hospital.
