YORK'S newest professional boxer, Paul "Flash" Gordon, is set to make his professional debut at the famous York Hall in Bethnal Green, London, on Saturday, November 21.
The 27-year-old super-middleweight trains at the York Masters Boxing Club on Redeness Street, off Layerthorpe, under the supervision of trainer-manager Glenn Banks.
He has been matched with Dalton Miller, from Acton, London, on a Steve Goodwin promotion in the capital. Miller has a professional record of won three, lost six.
Banks, York's only British Boxing Board of Control-licensed trainer-manager, said: "Paul has been training extremely hard and is very focused and confident.
"It's been a long training camp with lots of hard sparing. Paul takes each day at a time, he is sensible and grounded and understands how hard it is on the professional circuit."
Gordon works at Atkins Rail through the day and has two children – Isla Rose, aged two, and Reggie, aged one.
Banks said: "He still makes the sacrifices and has the dedication required to be a professional boxer. Exciting times are ahead."
If anyone wants to go to London supporting Gordon, tickets are £35 and are available from him on 07403-265916.
