NEW Earswick Ospreys were seen off by Doncaster in Yorkshire Over-55s Bowls League division two.
At home, Ospreys' Ken Magson, Barry Shipley, Vic Thompson and Bruce Dobson got off to a terrible start and were 26-4 down against H Harper after 12 ends.
They held their own in the second half of the match, scoring eight shots each to finish 34-12 in arrears.
Dave Sykes, Doug Carr, Alwyn Anderson and Terry Bellwood never trailed until the death in a very tight game against H Gutteridge. They led 10-9 after 14 ends but with the scores level at 13-13 after 18, Doncaster scored a four at the 19th to finish as 18-15 victors.
At Doncaster, New Earswick's Kevin Potter, Charles Twissell, Dave Moorhouse and Bob Barrett held a slight lead for the first half of their game, leading 9-8 after 11 ends against D Atkins.
However, Doncaster picked up 14 shots to Earswick's eight in the last ten ends to win 30-17.
Dave Hutchinson, Ray Mawson, Alan Price and Brian Birch led 10-0 after three ends against E Cosstello and, despite dropping a five at the seventh end, they still led 20-7 after 12 ends.
Doncaster picked up eight shots in the last four ends but Earswick ran out 30-18 winners.
New Earswick collected only points and Doncaster 12.
New Earswick also came off second best against Scarborough in the Denny Cup, losing 102-67.
At home, Dave Sykes, Dave Kermode, Ralph Tiplady and Paul Dawson only won one of the first nine ends to trail Boro's R Dickens 19-3.
They picked up eight shots in the next five ends but eventually went down 25-16.
In the next rink, Dave Imeson, Colin Ellis, Colin Pickup and Bill Waldie suffered a similar fate.
From being 8-2 down after seven ends against S Price, they fought back to lead 10-9 after 12 but slowly slipped away to a 24-16 defeat.
In the away games at Scarborough, Graham Lockwood, Gary Jones, Brian Gray and Andrew Fothergill were never in the game against S Taylor. They were 8-5 down after six ends and slid away to a 32-11 defeat.
Bob Elliot, Dave Clayden, Dick Osguthorpe and Barry Johnson got of to a flying start against J Bird, leading 16-4 after 12 ends.
They dropped 13 shots at the next five ends to only lead 19-17 with four ends to go but won three of the last four ends for a 24-18 victory.
