IT is a cup Tom Kelly has no intention of giving back anytime soon.

The 14-year-old retained the Silver Jubilee Trophy - the summer matchplay title competed for by juniors at Fulford Golf Club - with a 3&1 victory over Ben Arundel.

Kelly has come down from a 12 handicap to seven this year, while Arundel, who is also 14, was pleased to reach a big final as he looks to improve his handicap from 25.

Kelly, who is set to benefit from coaching with the Yorkshire squad, said: "We had a few good holes. It feels quite good to have won it again. I was off 12 at the start of the year. I will try and win a few more next year. I don't want to be giving it back yet."

Arundel added: "I never expected to come this close and I had to beat a few good golfers to get to the final. To have come second to such a good golfer as Tom is quite an honour. My handicap has come down a couple of shots this summer but I need to keep going and get as close as I can to Tom's level."
