YORK'S Chris Quantock has won his first PDC darts title after clinching victory in a Challenge Tour event at Coventry's Ricoh Arena.
Quantock, 24, came out on top in a field featuring 2008 World Championship runner-up Kirk Shepherd, ex-World Matchplay champ Peter Evison, former UK Open finalist Barrie Bates and two-time BDO World Championship semi-finalist Jan Dekker.
Winning the tournament in style, Quantock whitewashed Paul Rowley 5-0 in the final.
Earlier, he had overcome Anthony Hayman by the same scoreline, Will Harwood (5-3), Karl Merchant (5-4), Shaun Griffiths (5-3) and Peter Hudson (5-4) on his way to the £2,000 winners' cheque.
Quantock almost pulled off a Challenge Tour double but was beaten 5-1 by Hudson in the semi-finals of the second tournament.
The Challenge Tour is an entrance competition for players hoping to win places on the full PDC circuit.
Whitwell-on-the-Hill's Terry Temple, meanwhile, was defeated 6-3 by Tony Newell during the first round of the PDC's European Darts Matchplay in Innsbruck, Austria.
