A TWO-UNDER-PAR round of 72 has Selby Golf Club's Megan Garland firmly in contention following the second round of the Ladies' British Open Amateur Strokeplay Championship.
Garland, who struck a two over 74 in her first round, produced four birdies on the front nine as she vaulted up the leaderboard to tied sixth in the tournament at Moortown Golf Club, in Leeds.
After birdies at the first and second, she also picked up shots at the eighth, ninth and tenth in a stunning stretch of golf.
Bogeys at the 12th, 15th and 18th, sandwiched by a birdie at the 16th, saw her finish in a one-over 37 on the back nine but Garland is placed for a strong challenge on the final day.
India's Aditi Ashok leads the tournament at four-under-par after rounds of 71 and 73.
Garland's Selby clubmate Ellie Goodall added a 77 to her opening 75 to comfortably make the cut and is tied in 22nd place. Fulford's Charlotte Austwick shot 83.
