NEW EARSWICK are the new leaders of division nine in the IT Sports Mixed Tennis League after they picked up a draw against unbeaten Riccall.

David Latimer and Nicky John won all three rubbers for Earswick but neither side could open up a winning margin.

A good final round at Wilberfoss snatched the points for Dunnington. Robert Rhodes and Margaret Jenkins led the charge. Dunnington are just below Cliffe, who had a big win against Poppleton's two pairs.

Poppy are top of division one on games difference as they won at Fulford.

That victory kept them just ahead of York, who beat their second team. Andy Cooke and Becky Lee won 31 games to ensure the points but Pete Goodall and Kathryn Maude were unbeaten for York's second team.

The Shipton Road side's first team next play the unbeaten Dunnington, who outplayed Wetherby Castlegarth with Greg Ashcroft and Karen Mitchell top scoring.

York's division two outfit came through a close win against Fulford with the help of the unbeaten Howard Pallister and Anne Jackson.

Rufforth, meanwhile, won their first match based on an unbeaten night from top scorers James Edmond and Christine Place and a timely 11-1 last round win from Andy Ivel and Judith Evans.

Bubwith ended Sutton upon Derwent’s winning run after the teams met in division three and moved into top spot. Sutton could find no answer to the high scoring Rob Jackson and Jill Rounce.

Dunnington slipped into second place with wins against Stillington inspired by Daniel Hall and Nicola Loten, and previously Greg Ashcroft and Rosie Todd, who led the way against Stamford Bridge. Top scorers of the week were Triston Gretton and Rachel Huggins, from Sherburn, who won 34 games against Appleton Roebuck in their team's 58-50 win.

It was all change in division four. Poppleton picked up their first win and Dunnington moved to top spot after visitors Fulford failed to beat Alfie Hubble and Sue Sumner.

A final 10-2 score for Kevin Davison and Sandra Pauw kept up Rowntree Park's winning record and top spot in division six as they edged past hosts Rufforth.

Wilberfoss won 55-53 at Tollerton and then lost by the same score against Copmanthorpe. Alne are in second after a win at Poppleton.

Kelvin Riches and Ellie Page top scored for Bishopthorpe to keep their team at the top of division eight after beating previous leaders Heworth.

Wilberfoss were unlucky to have to concede 24 games against Dunnington and lose their 100 per cent record. Rufforth gained their first point with a draw at Dunnington with the unbeaten Jack Benson and Carole Withers the stars with an 11-1 win.
