WINTER season champions Fulfordfgate have got the York John Smith’s Ladies Darts League division one summer campaign off to a excellent start.

Dawn Exton, Lynn Thompson, Michelle Britton and niece Cara Britton ensured they entered the pairs at Castle Howard Ox ‘B’ with a commanding 4-2 advantage.

Sandra Bruce and Anne Bass scored for the home side.

Exton was joined by daughter Alex in the pairs as they started the ball rolling for a clean sweep, Gate taking home a 7-2 result.

Babs Harrison and Stacy Morris set Marcia ‘B’ off against visitors Tramways ‘B’, whose Sue Turpin, Tracey Farmeary and Natalie Farmeary replied.

Pat Cairns levelled to send the teams into the pairs, where Tracey Farmeary and Gina Whittaker, then Turpin and Natalie Farmeary sealed victory.

Mother and daughter Carol Perrett and Clair Cooper narrowed the deficit.

Severus ‘B’ had victory in the bag against their ‘A’ team with a clean sweep in the singles, then Dot Sellars and Angie Kaya added to their tally.

The ‘A’ won the final two pairs to ensure two points.

Marcia ‘B’ captain Faye Hawksby and colleague Joan Hunter gave them a 2-0 lead at Tramways, but Karen Alton kick-started the club side's winning run with Sue Lowery and Jo Hodges combining to secure match points.

Burnholme were in a rampant mood as they were denied a clean sheet by Edinburgh’s Julie Stables, who won the second game after Sarah Jackson had closed bull in the first leg for the club side.

In division two, Acomb were tied at 3-3 entering the pairs at Leeman, for whom Margaret Yeomans, plus mother and daughter Debbie and Charlotte Witts were the successes.

Sammy Benton and Libby Rankeillor, then Sarah Rankeillor and Tasha Benton sealed the win for Acomb, Laura Gatenby and Rose Gray adding a point.

Maggie Bedingham and Emma Barker were Jubilee ‘B’s only players to trouble the scorers as visitors Ox ‘A’ took home a 7-2 result, Nella Majsterek and Abbie Scott leading the way.

Jubilee ‘A’ held a 4-2 advantage in the singles at Burton WMC but had to wait until the final game to snatch a 5-4 win.

Sheila Harrison and Sandra Pallister, then Marianne Deamer and Linda Embleton set up the decider in which Jubilee captain Heather Bulmer combined with Brenda Dawe to secure match points.

Cris Turgoose, Freda Harman and Karen Hodgson were Clifton's point scorers against visitors Saddle, whose reply came via Sharon Nelson, Julia Shaw and Liz Jackson.

Jackson and Shaw combined to edge Saddle in front, but Turgoose and Angela Fletcher levelled, then watched as mother and daughter Alice and Linda Turgoose snatched victory.

Green Tree took a healthy 4-2 advantage into the pairs at Shoulder, whose Vicky Sellers joined captain Hannah Smith to narrow the gap before Lisa Russell and Sonya Love sealed victory.

Old stagers Doreen Johnstone and Anita Adams narrowed the winning margin.
