SIMON DYSON’s European Tour season is over.

The York-born ace bowed to the pain of a tendon injury in his wrist after he confirmed his withdrawal from the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open after completing a troublesome first round yesterday.

Despite a cortisone injection, Dyson was so badly handicapped by the injury that he posted no fewer than four double-bogeys to finish nine-over-par.

Ironically, world number one Rory McIlroy posted the same score of 80 at the Royal County Down course in his native Northern Ireland.

Dyson, who had revealed the Irish Open would be last appearance of the year, will now undergo surgery on the damaged tendon on June 24.

He has written off the rest of the 2015 European Tour calendar with his recovery expected to take a minimum of five months.

Meanwhile, Knaresborough-born John Parry, who has recently qualified for the US Open later in the summer after rounds of 68 and 69 in a qualifier at Walton Heath, was lying in joint 36th place in the Irish Open after posting a one-over 72.
