TRACEY FARMEARY got the new season of the York John Smith’s Ladies Darts League off to a flying start.

The Tramways ‘B’ captain gamed in 13 arrows, including a maximum, a 140 and a 100.

Natalie Farmeary had won the opening leg to give the visitors a 2-0 advantage at Fulfordgate, but the wheels fell off as Dawn Exton, Michelle Britton, Cara Britton and Amanda Britton gave Gate a 4-2 lead.

Wins for Muriel Britton and Jill Reed, then Michelle Britton and Cara Britton completed a 6-3 rout.

Tracey Farmeary and Sue Turpin won the final leg for Ways.

Chris Hayward, Barbara Russell and Faye Hawksby put visitors Marcia ‘B’ in a commanding position at Severus ‘A’, whose Davina Shannon and Sheila Elliott replied.

Landlady Linda Welch restored the visitors’ advantage and was then joined by captain Hawksby to seal victory. With one win each in the remaining legs, the visitors took home a 6-3 win.

Marcia ‘A’ went one better than their ‘B’ team. Ellen Platt set the ball rolling before visitors Severus ‘B’ went into a 2-1 lead through Sue Gillon and Dot Sellars.

However, they failed to add to their score as captain Di Moreland led from the front to take the remaining games for a 7-2 result.

Tramways ‘A’ versus Burnholme was a tight affair. Ruth Norman gave Ways a start, with Sarah Jackson, Jane Dobson and Sharon Neads replying.

Carole Layne and Karen Alton won to ensure the sides entered the pairs all square. Neads and Jackson then Dobson and Jean West sealed match points for Burnholme.

Norman and Sue Lowery won a consolation point.

Julie Stables, Chris Lamb and Anthea Jamieson gave Edinburgh a good start before Sandra Bruce and Anne Bass replied for hosts Castle Howard Ox ‘B’.

Amanda Bevan restored the visitors’ advantage, but Ox won the first two pairs to set up a deciding leg, which saw captain Lamb and Donna Lynes snatch victory.

Jubilee ‘A’, crowned division two champions in the winter season, got their title hopes for the summer season off to a fine start.

They were only prevented from a full house by Green Tree pairing Jackie Young and Margaret Forth.

Shoulder nudged aside visitors Saddle as they started their season off with a full house, captain Hannah Smith leading the way.

Emma Barker, Rosie Hattee and Anne Allinson set Jubilee ‘B’ off on the right foot at Leeman, whose Margaret Yeomans broke their duck.

However, Chris Peebles and captain Maggie Bedingham secured match points for the visitors, and Bedingham and Kelly Williams added to their tally.

Karen Hodgson hit the tons as she was involved in two of Clifton’s three successes against visitors Acomb, who took home a 6-3 result thanks to a good overall team performance. Lisa Benton hit two ton-plus scores.

Mother and daughter Sandra Pallister and Linda Embleton were Burton’s point scorers as Castle Howard Ox ‘A’ cleaned up in the pairs for a resounding win.

Acomb edge to Ebor triumph

ACOMB Sports were 4-3 winners at home to The Ebor in the York White Rose Ladies Darts League.

Acomb won the first game but Anne Bryszkiewski and Astrid Tute (120) lost the next to Sally Ellem and Anna Simms. Julie Bond and Barbara O’Donnell then beat Roz Kerr (116) and Alice Paylor in the second pairs, before Bond and O’Donnell took the first two individual games to seal the win for Acomb.

Crescent ‘A’ went down 5-2 at home to Lord Nelson. Nelson’s Hilary Gelderd hit a 128 in the pairs.

Flag ‘A’ won the first game at home to Crescent ‘B’, but then lost the next five games. Flag took the last through Toni Smallwood, who had a 100 and a 180 for an 11-dart leg.

In division two, Acomb Bowls lost 4-3 at home to New Earswick Bowls, who came from 3-2 down to win thanks to Carol Tragni and Mary Thornton.

King William reeled off the first six games at home to Flag ‘B’. Derwent were 6-1 winners at home to New York after losing the first.
