FULFORDGATE’S Michelle Britton was crowned York John Smith’s Ladies Darts League individual champion after a battle royal against Tramways ‘B’ captain and defending champion Tracey Farmeary.

Britton took the first game in 21 darts with a double 16 checkout, but Farmeary held the upper hand in the second game with a 140, 135 and a double six finish for a 20-dart leg.

The decider saw both players on tenterhooks.

The Tramways captain started with a 140 and some steady scoring gave her an advantage, but Britton hit a timely 140.

With Farmeary unable to locate the double, with darts landing on the wrong side of the wire, Britton closed double five to be crowned champion in one of the best finals for many years.

Farmeary was joined by daughter Natalie in the pairs final against Burnholme pair Marj Pearson and Caroline Whittaker.

The Farmearys took a commanding lead in the opening leg as Tracey hit two tons. Natalie chipped in with a 112 and closed double two for the first game.

The Burnholme pair then found their range, charging into a ton lead, but Tracey hit a timely ton and Natalie followed with an 82 as the Burnholme duo missed their double.

The game ended on a double one shoot out, with the Tramways captain securing the vital double.

Britton was joined by Dawn Exton and Lynn Thompson in the triples against Ox trio Sandra Bruce, Tracy Watkinson and Flossie Crampton.

Ox took the first game without any startling scores and the tie went to a double one closure from Bruce.

The second game saw Britton hit three tons, yet still end up on the losing team as Bruce hit a 135 and closed on 45.

The captain and vice-captain trophy saw Farmeary joined by Bev Harton against Burton mother and daughter Sandra Pallister and Linda Embleton.

Farmeary closed the first leg on double ten to take a 1-0 advantage against the second division duo.

Two tons from Farmeary in the second and decisive game saw her finish on double one.

Tracey Farmeary was crowned player of the night after some consistently excellent scoring, voted for by the three officials.
