OLD adversaries Michelle Britton, captain of Fulfordgate, and Tramways ‘B’ captain Tracey Farmeary will meet on stage at the York John Smith’s Ladies League finals to be held at Tramways tonight.

Britton progressed after a 2-1 win against Farmeary’s club colleague Jayne Janes. In the first leg, both players had their chance to finish before Britton closed double four.

Despite a timely 121, 100 from the Fulfordgate captain, Janes checked double 18.

The decider was a nip and tuck game with Britton again hitting a timely ton and after just missing an 80 finish, checked double ten for 25 on her next visit to the board.

Farmeary had a 24-dart first leg against Marcia ‘B’ captain Faye Hawksby which included 140, 125.

Hawksby hit a 120 and a double one check saw her claim the first game. Another 140, 100 shot her in front but a stutter on the finish gave the Marcia player a sniff before Farmeary gamed in 26 darts.

Farmeary teamed up with daughter Natalie in the pairs and in the first leg against Britton and Dawn Exton, Tracey set off with a maximum 180 which put the team in good stead with mother closing on double ten.

In the second leg, both Farmearys hit the high scores and again the elder closed double 15 for their passage through to the finals where they meet the winners of a deferred match as Burnholme’s captain Marj Pearson is recovering from a knee operation and will be joined by colleague Caroline Whittaker to play Tramways ‘B’ Janes and Sue Turpin before the finals.

Britton, Exton and Lynn Thompson progressed to the triples finals at the expense of Farmeary, Tina Platt and Pat Bowness.

Tramways nearly gave up a clear advantage in the first leg before Farmeary closed double one. In the second leg, Britton slotted in a 135 then closed double 12 to set up a decider.

Farmeary 2 x 140 and Britton 100 kept the leg alive for both sides and missed finishes let Tramways down as Exton closed out on double ten for the match.

The other finalists are Ox ‘B’s Sandra Bruce, Tracey Watkinson and Flossie Crampton who saw off Marcia ‘B’s Hawksby, Sue Smith and Chris Hayward 2-1.

Bruce hit 140, and 3 x 100 to star for Ox and two tons from Hawksby made a fist of it. Ox closed double two in the first leg and the Bishopthorpe side responded. Hawksby closed double one and, in the deciding leg one, was the feature again as Bruce snatched victory.

Farmeary combined with Bev Harton in the captain/vice captain cup and top scoring in the opening leg, the Tramways captain hit a maximum to leave Harton a 64 checkout which she duly hit to go into a 1-0 lead against Fulfordgate duo Britton and Exton. They then levelled with a double five check in the deciding game.

Farmeary included 140, 125, 100 and closed double 16 for a 30 dart 701 with the Fulfordgate duo breathing down their neck as Britton hit 104 leaving Exton a manageable finish if the Tramways players missed.

Burton Lane WMC mother and daughter Sandra Pallister and Linda Embleton will be their opponents in the finals as they saw off first timers Nikki Johnson and Wendy Sullivan, of Ox ‘A’, who put in a creditable performance for their first time in the competition to go down 2-0.
