HAXBY Shotokan Karate Club are celebrating after three club members were awarded their black belt at a JKS karate grading course.

The three new black belts - Adam Dunn, Jonathan Whitham and Dael Robinson - were awarded their black belt by Alan Campbell, head of JKS England.

Said the Haxby club’s chief instructor Mike Gude, 5th Dan: “They have worked very hard over the last few years, regularly training at the club and attending JKS training courses.”

Club chairman Jim Bamford added: “We are keen to encourage new members and encourage anyone who is thinking about starting to come down to one of our training sessions.”

Haxby Shotokan Karate Club, which has members with ages ranging from five to 60-plus, trains at Wigginton Recreation Hall each Monday and Thursday from 6.30pm to 7.30pm (ages five to eight) and from 7pm to 9pm (adults and children aged eight and above).
