A HAT-TRICK of match wins put the seal on John Cyrowski’s York Tackle-sponsored York Winter Angling League title triumph.

The Barlby Village Stores rod won the sixth and final match of the series, taking his overall tally to four wins.

The champion was drawn at the bottom of the Palace Ings section of the River Ouse and had a winning catch of 14lb 1oz, which included two bream, two skimmers, plus roach and perch. All were caught on the feeder, while he also lost a bream.

Second place went to Bob Morris, who was also drawn on the Palace Ings.

His catch weighed in at 6lb 12oz and he had one bream, two hybrids and eight roach.

Mark Leslie finished third with a catch of 5lb 4oz from peg one in the pumper. His catch consisted of 60 roach.

Fourth was G Flesher, who was drawn in the Donkey Woods section below the bridge. His catch weighed in at 4lb 3oz.

The team event over the six matches was won by Anglers World, with a tie for second place between Barlby Village Stores and Xmen.

The sections winners in the final round were: one to seven, Don Murray 3lb 5oz; eight to 14, Tony Stephenson 3lb 14oz; 15 to 21, G Shepherdson 3lb; 22 to 28, S Snaith 3lb 10oz; 29 to 35, T Layfield 1lb 10oz; 36 to 42, C Hardy and D Hardy 2lb 8oz.

League secretary Paul Issatt said: “I would like to thank Dave and the team at York Tackle for sponsoring the Winter League.”
