ACOMB Hockey Club men’s first team surged to a second ten-goal spree in a fortnight after beating Yorkshire League division four north strugglers Halifax III 10-0.
After equal opening exchanges, Dave Richardson’s rising shot opened the scoring with strikes following regularly.
By half-time the lead stood at 4-0, but Acomb refused to step off the gas and ran in six more goals to tee up next week’s clash against third-placed Harrogate knowing they need only one win to secure promotion.
The Acomb marksmen were Ryan Forster (4), Dave Richardson (2), Jamie Robinson (2), Simon Theaker and Pete Hilton.
Acomb II were due to play division five north anchor outfit Ben Rhydding VI but they failed to field a side and the game was postponed.
