ACOMB carried on their winning run by defeating Bootham 4-2 in the York Conservative Clubs’ Faber Shield Billiards League.

Acomb’s Mick Borg registered a 44 break in his 150-107 win over Paul Mahoney, but Ken Taylor hit back with a 150-118 victory over Paul Holmes.

Richard Lillie then just got the better of Bootham’s Ian Robinson, winning 150-144, and Dan Potter’s 150-63 victory over Tim Fillingham secured the win for Acomb.

Colin Robinson won the final game against Trevor Ventress to give Bootham their second point.

Despite hitting breaks of 26 and 28, Robinson was unable to take the aggregate point.

Fulford drew 3-3 with visiting Heworth.

The home side started well with Tom Lewis (27 break) running out a 150-118 winner over Brian Birch and then, in a tense match, Glen Mountain narrowly prevailed over Gary Rogers, winning 150-141 despite Rogers having breaks of 30, 28, 26 and 89.

Heworth hit back with Darren Clark (44 and 39 breaks) defeating Wayne Puleston, then Mark Winskill (36 break) beating Alan Reed 150-106.

That left Heworth 36 ahead on aggregate with the last game to play. Terry Ward won it for Fulford, defeating Keith Watkinson 150-129, but Heworth took the aggregate by five points.
