FLUENT form was recaptured by York’s Simon Dyson - and needed to be to beat the cut in the True Thailand Classic.

With the field led by Spain’s Miguel Angel Jimenez after he fired a 66 to follow a first-round 67, the cut mark was fixed at two-under.

And Dyson made it...just...at the Black Mountain Golf Club.

He carded a three-under-pat 569, which left him smack on the button on two-under after his first-day 73.

A birdie on the second hole was followed by a dropped shot on the third, but the inward nine saw the world number 141 turn in his most emphatic nine holes of 2015.

The Malton & Norton GC ace retrieved birdies on the tenth and 11th hole and birdied the par-five final hole to go into today’s third round.

Harrogate GC’s John Parry is even better placed. He is two shots better off than Dyson after two dropped shots yesterday were wiped out by no fewer than five birdies.
