TRAMWAYS ‘B’ won the battle of the top two in division one of the York John Smith’s Ladies Darts League, beating Fulfordgate 5-4.

Sue Turpin won the opener in a tight finish and, although Fulfordgate captain Michelle Britton levelled, Tramways edged ahead through Natalie Farmeary.

Tramways captain Tracey Farmeary then fired a superb 21-dart leg which culminated in a 95 (treble 19, double 19) checkout.

Gate replied through Anne Bass and Muriel Britton to put the teams level going into the pairs.

Natalie Farmeary and Turpin edged Tramways in front before Tracey Farmeary and vice-captain Bev Harton sealed victory.

Murial Britton and Dawn Exton won the last for Gate.

Marcia ‘A’ captain Di Moreland gamed in 25 darts in her singles, but Ellen Platt was their only other scorer in a 7-2 defeat by Castle Howard Ox ‘A’, whose Flossie Crampton secured victory.

Burnholme were 6-3 winners over Severus ‘B’ after being given a flying start by Caroline Whittaker, Sarah Jackson, Sharon Neads and Lynne Willstrop.

Wendy Storr and Dot Sellars won for Sev and Angie Kaya and Storr narrowed the gap, but victory was secured by Carole Salkeld and Neads, then Jackson and Jane Dobson. Carole Layne and Judy Hall snatched victory for Tramways ‘A’ against visitors Edin - burgh Arms.

Faye Hawksby, Barbara Russell, Linda Welch and Joan Hunter enabled Marcia ‘B’ to enter the pairs with a 4-2 lead at Castle Howard Ox ‘A’.

Ox recovered to win with a clean sweep in the pairs, with Linda Staveley and Caz Johnson winning the decider.

Division two leaders Bootham Cons Club hit back from 2-0 down against Jubilee ‘B’ to win 6-3.

Rosie Hattee and Catherine Johns opened up for Jubilee, but Bootham replied through Jackie Church, Dot Trousdale, Janet Foster and Jane Barnes. Maggie Bedingham and Eileen Haw reduced the gap before Church and Julia Hagyard sealed victory. Barnes and Foster added the final point.

Burton WMC were a player light but still managed a 6-3 win against visitors Saddle, whose captain Doreen England closed on a two- dart 87 (treble 17, double 18).

Jackie Gray closed on bull in the pairs with Leeman captain Debbie Witts to set up a decider against Green Tree.

Dawn Clark and Janet Nelson combined to secure a close-fought win for Leeman.

Acomb’s Libby Rankeillor and Rose Gray sealed a narrow success at Jubilee ‘A’.
