HOPES of a first-time impact in the European Tour faded for York golf star Simon Dyson.
After posting a dispiriting one-over-par 73 in the opening round, Dyson improved slightly with a level-par 72 yesterday in the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, his first Tour action of 2015.
That left him three shots shy of the midway cut with a host of players led by former world number one Martin Kaymer carding significant sub-par scorers.
The 37-year-old Dyson was unable to tame the Abu Dhabi course in the United Arab Emirates and was in deficit with a bogey on the third.
He improved with birdies on the fifth and 15th holes, but a six on the par-five last ensured he was short of the required mark to make it through to the weekend business.
