RICH JENKIN bagged five goals as leaders City of York men's I put Preston I to the sword in an 11-1 victory in North Hockey League division one.

The home side took the lead from a short corner a few minutes into the match. The Preston keeper was left rooted to the spot and clinical passing enabled Alex Cockram to drag the ball into the goal.

Minutes later another short corner was awarded and Tom Feasby made it 2-0.

An interception in midfield put York back on the attack and Ben Bull fired home a third.

With Preston looking lost for options, York notched a fourth when Oliver Couttie was on hand at the back post for an easy finish.

Within seconds of the restart, York again intercepted in midfield and, with attackers queueing up unmarked at the back post, Anthony Bull got the decisive touch to deflect into the bottom corner.

York's sixth came as a result of periods of tight marking when man of the match Ben Bull sent a powerful reverse shot into the far corner past the keeper.

A lapse in concentration in the Preston defence allowed York to force another short corner, Jenkin dragging home for his first of the match.

Preston forced a short corner of their own just before half-time and they pulled a goal back after a hectic scramble in front of goal.

York then counter-attacked quickly and forced a short corner, again dispatched by Jenkin for his hat-trick.

Jenkin added the tenth from open play and he then deflected Ben Bull's strike into the goal to round off the scoring.
