YORK Indoor Bowls Club's two teams maintained their 100 per cent records to remain top in both the Yorkshire Leagues.

They each picked up 16 points from their victories against Doncaster and Doncaster 'B' respectively, with both York teams scoring 97 shots.

In division two, Dudley Williams, Nigel Macdonald, Malcolm Thompson and Dave Stroughair's home rink led 8-0 after only three ends.

By the 14th end they had extended their advantage to 27-8 before finishing 30-17.

Graham Instone, Jack Woodworth, Stuart Smith and Paul Mooring were tied at 11-11 after 12 ends before Chris Bishop had to come on for Graham Instone.

Thereafter the home side only lost three more ends and won comfortably 25-14.

Away, Ray Calpin, Andy Humphreys, Tex Stevens and John Harris picked up ten shots from three winning ends between the sixth and ninth to move into a 16-6 lead.

They made the most of it as they extended their advantage to 15 shots by the finish to win 30-15.

Neal Macdonald, Malcolm Harrison, Graham Brooke and Adam Liddell won five of the last seven ends, but the damage had already been done and they lost their game 18-12.

York won 97-64 on aggregate.

In division three, York 'B' also had three winning rinks with Harley Wenham, Alwyn Redhead, Gordon Walker and Geoff Walker’s leading the way with a comfortable 39-7 victory.

They were helped by a seven on the 16th end and only lost six ends throughout.

Alan Yoward, Colin Sharpley, Alan Clapham and Ken Robinson were 6-1 down after five ends but came back well to take the lead with a two on the 12th to make the score 9-8.

The game remained tight up to the last end, where a single on the last sealed a 17-15 home victory.

Away, Alan Potter, Ken Hutson, Allan May and Bob Blackburn picked up a six on the eighth end to take the lead for the time in their game at 10-5.

They held that to the finish as they came away with a well deserved 25-13 victory.

Charlie Arnett, John Richardson, Ron Munro and Eric Hodgson were in full control of their game when they led 16-9 with seven ends to play, but they lost the lot and the game 24-16 as York 'B' won 97-59.
