CITY of York ladies I made three wins on the trot with a 1-0 victory over Didsbury Northern I in the North Hockey League premier division.

Annabel Lee grabbed the all-important goal for the hosts at York University, although York needed a survive a late scare when Didsbury had a short corner goal ruled out.

York created several chances in the attacking circle, with captain Laura Horne unable to capitalise with a strike from the top of the 'D'.

The goal came when Horne sent a controlled ball across the front of the goal and Lee slipped the ball into the goal.

York had another short corner opportunity but were unable to add to their lead, while Didsbury's own short corner effort found the net but the goal was disallowed for being too high.

City of York II were held to a 0-0 draw at Leeds University III in the Yorkshire League premier division.

York enjoyed a lot of possession and attacked well, but they were unable to break through.

In division two, City of York III were edged out 2-1 at Selby I.

A depleted York team went 1-0 up with a goal from Hannah Saunders, but the hosts levelled from a scramble in the 'D' before half-time and they won it with a second half short corner.

Saunders and Emily Cooper shared the player of the match award, while there was superb defensive play from Sarah Boorman, Faith Civicco and Jenni Fitton, plus a good stint in goal for Shona Jagger.
