STAN HAIGH was the winner of the York Amalgamation of Anglers' Tower Trophy contest on the River Ouse below York.

The Anglers World rod topped the weights with a haul of 12lb 12 oz, with Mick Wood runner-up with 9lb and T Harrison third on 8lb.

The next big amalgamation fixture is the Christmas Cheer contest on the same stretch of the Ouse on Sunday, November 30.

The draw will be held at St Clement's WMC at 8.30am, with fishing from 10.30am to 3pm.
