SPORTING heroes in Hambleton have been rewarded for their commitment to sport.

More than 140 people attended the Hambleton Sports Awards, which this year had a Tour de France theme, and included guest speaker Danny Hart - the 2011 downhill mountain bike world champion.

The awards are organised by Hambleton District Council and North Yorkshire Sport, and were hosted by Cllr Bridget Fortune.

Council chairman Cllr John Prest said: “The annual Hambleton Sports awards recognise sports performers, coaches and volunteers for their contribution to their chosen sport, and recognition they bring to the district.”
