9:56am Thursday 12th April 2012 in Leeds United
CITY of York Cricket Development Group are relaunching to promote the sport in the area.
Clubs are being invited to attend the next meeting at Osbaldwick Cricket Club on Monday, April 23, at 7.45pm to hear what the organisation has to offer.
Attendees will be able to access, at a much reduced price, a Lords Taverners’ Kit Bag to the value of £300.
CYCGD’s new secretary Rob Smith said: “The group’s primary aim is to promote and develop cricket in the area.
“The group can apply to Sport England for grants up to £10,000 to support cricket in the area.
“It can provide subsidies for clubs who wish to send individuals on courses, be it for coaching, umpiring, child protection, groundsmanship etc.
“Monies are also available to subsidise the purchase of equipment.
“For example, Ovington CC have recently received a grant from Sport England for £9,600 for new sightscreens and a roller.
“Osbaldwick CC and Dunnington CC received substantial grants towards their new net facilities.”
Membership of the group costs £10 a year and requires a commitment to attend meetings usually held three or four times a year.
