TOM Adeyemi is being encouraged to express himself more with Leeds.
New boss Steve Evans takes the Whites to Bolton tomorrow as he looks to build on Wednesday’s point at Fulham.
Midfielder Adeyemi impressed Evans with a high-energy display in the 1-1 draw at Craven Cottage and Evans hopes there is more to come.
“I said if he wants to be a sitting midfielder, go and sit in League Two,” explained Evans.
“I’ve seen him all over the pitch. I thought he covered every blade of grass.
“I’ve said ‘you are not a sitting midfield player, you were fantastic at Cardiff before you got injured, box to box.”
Adeyemi spent a year in the basement division with the Bantams under Peter Taylor.
Evans has warned that there may be changes for his second game – but Sam Byram, like Adeyemi, is unlikely to be among them.
The right-sided midfielder was the only player to know in advance he would be in the team against Fulham.
Evans said: “I’ve loved him from the day I walked in. If I was an 18-year-old girl I’d kiss him.
“He’s been hurting at not being in the team, the young man. He is a quiet boy by nature, so we’ve tried to lift him.”
Evans, who replaced Uwe Rosler on Monday, admitted he felt “humbled and choked” by the reaction in his first game in charge.
“It’s fantastic to be the manager of this club and feels very humbling – and we’re now off and running.”
