TWO Yorkshire derby duels will sign off Leeds United’s campaign, with the men from Elland Road determined to display renewed grit.

United make the short trip to Sheffield Wednesday tomorrow for their penultimate outing before wrapping up an ill-starred topsy-turvy campaign with the visit of Rotherham on May 2.

After the off-the-field farce of suddenly losing six players to injury only 24 hours or so before last week’s game at Charlton Athletic, head coach Neil Redfearn will be hoping traditional derby atmosphere will fire his men’s ambition to end the season with a flourish.

Hosts Wednesday are guaranteed to finish above Leeds as Yorkshire’s top Championship outfit this term, so acquiring their scalp would provide ample incentive, while next week’s end-game is against a Rotherham side still in danger of relegation.

With all manner of uncertainty enveloping the Elland Road outfit, the last two games offer Redfearn and the crop of talented tyros he has helped to cultivate into first-team regulars, a chance to further make their mark to other less troubled employers.

However, Redfearn will be definitely without two of the sidelined six tomorrow.

On-loan Albanian striker Edgar Cani’s knee injury has KO’d him, while Italian defender Guiseppe Bellusci is similarly injured and expected to play no further part over the next eight days.
