CONTRAST will spur a continuity plea from Leeds United head coach Neil Redfearn ahead of the Whites quick return to Championship action.
United head to Wigan Athletic, who are fighting a battle to avoid nother relegation, after beating promotion-hunters Ipswich Town in midweek.
The 2-1 triumph was hailed by Redfearn, who declared: “That’s another side at the top of the league that we’ve beaten so we must be doing something right.”
A searing Alex Mowatt free-kick and Billy Sharp’s second goal in as many games, confirmed the win, which was assured after goalkeeper Marco Silvestri’s penalty save from Daryl Murphy late in the game.
Silvestri is one of the contenders for the February player of the month award which is announced later today.
Of Sharp’s eventual winner, Redfearn added: “Goals breed goals. He’s bright, he chases things down and he gives you energy. If you stick him in front of goal, he’ll finish."
