ROSS McCORMACK has revealed he expects to score every time he sets foot on the pitch – though he concedes his run cannot last for ever, writes Toby Latham.

Leeds United’s hot-shot striker tops the Championship’s goalscoring charts with 17 – only two less than tomorrow’s visitors Barnsley have managed altogether in the league this season.

And in this form odds are short that he will hand new Barnsley boss Danny Wilson a losing start to his second spell in charge of the Tykes.

McCormack said: “At the minute I go on the pitch and believe I am going to score.

“I believe my team-mates behind me are going to give me one chance, one good chance a game to get a goal.”

“Right now I seem to be taking those chances. I know that it isn’t going to go on for ever, and if things do dry up a little bit I’ll still be looking to do things for the team.”

Leeds, looking to cement their position in the play-offs, are unbeaten in their last six games at home and after their 3-0 victory at Doncaster are only seven points off Burnley, who occupy the second automatic promotion spot.

Struggling Yorkshire rivals Barnsley are rooted to the bottom of the table with only one win in eight games, a run which saw David Flitcroft sacked as manager and Wilson – who famously led them to a season in the Premier League 16 years ago – brought back in a bid to change their fortunes.
