BE positive was the declaration of intent from Leeds United assistant boss Nigel Gibbs ahead of tomorrow’s clash at Blackburn Rovers.

Leeds head west after the latest episode in their stirring home run sealed a top six Championship play-off place.

But Gibbs said that while Elland Road was turning back into a fortress, they would need to be at their most resilient in tomorrow’s trip to Ewood Park.

“Our home record is really pleasing,” said Gibbs.

“The two games before the four wins I thought we deserved draws. Since then we have been strong at home. The lads are relishing playing at Elland Road now.”

Leeds are taking almost 7,000 fans tomorrow, a presence that will be pivotal to the United charges led by manager Brian McDermott hanging on to that prized leading six place.

Added Gibbs: “Now that we are in the top six we are there to be shot at but we are prepared for that.

“There has been a terrific response from the supporters. It really helps away from home.

“Tomorrow will be a tough game. I’ve looked at their side and their squad and they have some good players in their team.

“I think they would say that they have been inconsistent but on their day they can beat anybody.

“But it’s about what we do. We need to be on the front foot and take the game to them and hopefully with the support we can get the right result.”
