Changes expected for Tadcaster Albion side

Tadcaster ALBION boss Paul Marshall says he will be making “at least” three or four changes in a bid to get his side back to winning ways.

The Brewers, high-flying near the top of the Northern Counties East League premier division for much of the season, have slipped to back-to-back defeats against leaders Retford and lowly Armthorpe Welfare.

With a trip to Liversedge to contemplate tomorrow, Marshall plans to “shake things up” as he looks to keep fifth-placed Tadcaster’s promotion charge on track.

“We are under-performing at the moment,” he said. “A few players have gone off the boil and two teams have wanted to beat us more than we wanted to beat them. It’s massively disappointing and there are going to be changes.

“It is going to be tweaks and tweaking the formation, with at least three or four changes from last Saturday’s starting 11. If you keep putting the same team out you will get the same results. I will try to shake things up.

“The lads have done brilliantly this year and we are not going to give in. When I won the league with Goole in 2005, we lost nine games and won it with 79 points. I think a target of 80 points will win it this year. It’s a great league because you know every game that there is a chance of losing.”

Danny Pitts will come back into the fray for Albion, while Marc Thompson has rejoined the club after a short spell at Pickering Town.

Marshall added: “Marc went there to try to get fit and get a few games. Jimmy Reid decided he wasn’t fit enough and he wants to play football. We thought we would bring him back for his experience.

“If he gets fit he will get games. If he doesn’t he won’t.”
