Skelton rattled by Station in Sunday Morning Football League Cup


THIRD division Station upset the form-book with a 5-2 extra-time victory over top-flight Skelton in the Ian’s Cars of Barlby York Sunday Morning Football League Cup.

Skelton took an early lead after a fine move was finished off by Ben Janes, but Station hit back with a goal from Steve Lyon to make it 1-1 at the break.

With only five minutes gone in the second period, Station were awarded a penalty and Skelton had a man sent off.

Station’s Craig Anderson tucked away the spot-kick to make it 2-1 but, with time running out, Tom Walters levelled.

In extra time, Station took full advantage of their extra man with goals from Gary Collier, Jack Guest and Anderson.

The other fourth round tie saw Nestlé Flag cruise past St John 6-0 with braces for Wayne Scaife, Jon James and Ash Hill.

On the league front, Hounds are now only two points behind division one leaders Nestlé Flag after beating Enterprise 5-0.

They were 3-0 up at half-time with two goals from Tom Osbourne and an Adam Garner strike. Second-half goals came from Alan Jackson and Andy Northern.

Dale Phillips and Adam Ferguson both hit hat-tricks in Wanderers’ 6-0 win at Cliffe.

The game between Severus and Selby Olympia finished 4-4.

Severus hit back from 3-1 down at the break to lead 4-3 only for Olympia to snatch a point with a late goal.

On target for Severus were Phil Jones and Mark Woodward, with a brace each, while Olympia replied with two goals from Rob Friar, plus single strikes by Matty Howden and George Wojcik.

Division two leaders Haxby Lions beat rivals Wigginton Grasshoppers 3-2 with goals from Jamie Pulleyn, Michael Taylor and Dave Thompson. Ben Coates and substitute Neil Walker replied.

Sean Stockdale hit a treble in second-placed Acomb Celtic’s 7-1 win at Cueball with other goals from Lee Powell (2), Mark Benton and Liam Keenaghan. The Cueball scorer was Amos Laverack.

Hambleton Lions went top of division three after a Gary Stewart treble, a Jamie Broughton brace, and goals from Stuart Pea, Jonathon Page, Robert Burke and Paul Humphrey gave them a 9-4 win over Gypsy Moth.

Division four North leaders Acomb WMC beat Hemingbrough 4-1 with goals from Danny Snaith, Colin Rayner, Danny Gray and Michael O’Shaughnessy. Hemingbrough replied through Luke Zacharenko.

Jamie Moore hit the net eight times in second-placed Leeman United’s 15-0 battering of Forest FC. Also hitting the target were Liam Stilgo (2), Bradley Dunne (2), Paul Barron, Jamie Dawes and Will Barron.

Linton-on-Ouse are still looking for their first win of the season after going down 3-1 at home to Dinamo Megahorse for whom Wayne Langan hit a hat-trick. Dave Graham replied in the final minute.

In Division four South, table toppers Dunnington, with a treble from John Wormald, plus a Danny Little strike and an own goal, beat New Earswick 5-3.

FC Barlby took second spot after beating LNER Builders 4-2 with Dan Burt (2), Lee Carter and Paul Hughes on target.
