IN-FORM Tadcaster Albion will be looking to harness Friday night fervour to steal an early advance on their championship-chasing rivals.
Albion head to Barton Town Old Boys tonight seeking a second away-night Northern Counties East League first division conquest in the space of four days after toppling Teversal 2-1 on Tuesday.
Chris Storey put Albion ahead early in the second half only for Teversal to level ten minutes from time.
But within three minutes the cool composure of striker Darren Brandon restored the lead and ensured the maximum haul when he converted a spot-kick.
Now if third-placed Albion can repeat the feat at Barton they will reduce the deficit to leaders Brighouse to just four points and still boast no fewer than four games in hand.
In the NCEL premier division, Selby Town entertain Winterton Rangers tasked with bouncing back from a 4-1 loss in midweek to table-topping Bridlington Town.
The margin of victory was highly flattering to the hosts against whom the Robins were the first to score, leading marksman Steve Lyon expertly finishing a Brenton Leister pass in the ninth minute.
But by half-time the hosts had turned the match around with a brace of goals in the space of 11 minutes.
Selby continued to press and were in the ascendancy right up until the final ten minutes when their push for a leveller was marred by a brace of Bridlington goals to give the score-line an unbalanced look.
Elsewhere in the top-flight, Pickering Town hosts Scarborough Athletic in what promises to be a thrilling derby.
Like Selby, the Pikes can count themselves unfortunate to have suffered a midweek loss. They were bundled out of the North Riding Senior Cup semi-finals by Middlesbrough only after a penalty shoot-out.
After Boro, who switched the tie to Pickering’s Recreation Ground, took the lead, Darren Clough levelled before two second-half goals in a minute from Tom Adams and Chaz Wrigley looked to have put the Pikes in command.
However, the Teessiders bagged a double-blast of goals in the space of four minutes to level and tee up a shoot-out which Pickering eventually lost 4-3.
